Let us go forward in time through Ancient Greece. In the period 475BC, Greece manufactured the Delian League. The Delian League was an alliance between Greek city states. Athens had won the Persian War making it logical and reasonable for them to be the rulers of this sacred league. This granted Athens with power and authority over the other Greek states and led them into their Golden Ages. Delian League was created to defend Greece from wars and invasions. The members of this association were 20 people from Greek islands, 36 city-states, 35 from Hellespont, 24 from Caria and 33 from around Thrace. After a long period of time the city-states began fighting and arguing when things didn’t go their way. Athens kept demanding for financial contributions and their allies became poorer and weaker so war still continued. Then a city-state called Sparta captured many Athens. This was a horrible time for Athens. Athens lost many colonies and many corrupted therefore they surrendered themselves to the region of Thirty Tyrants. That was the end for the Delian League, the end in the period 400BC. The Delian League lasted for 46 years and never returned. (The greed of the city-states specifically the Athens effected Greece by collapsing the Delian League). |
I believe that the Athens should have controlled their greed and instead of trying to conquer over the city-states of Greek they should have been putting their effort into making it a better place by helping people and making Greece more exceptional. If they had a clear view of how they wanted to improve their country instead of fighting there would be less torment and suffering and they would be economically strong. If the Athens thought rationally and led fairly than there wouldn’t be any negative consequences and the Delian League wouldn’t have collapsed. |
